A welcome return, made big saves both early and late to keep things level.

Still looks a bit rusty - Sporting found some joy in behind him - but mostly sound and supported Madueke down the right.

Cool in possession for the most part and did what he had to defensively.

Dealt with Luis Suarez well, kept his cool despite constant chirping from the striker.

Stuck to the task at the back but not as involved as you'd like going forward.

Caught in possession once or twice but was on the ball more, improved after his disallowed goal, which was brilliantly taken.

Pressed excellently and offered cover at the back, carried the ball well but more needed from him further forward.

Not at his incisive best but helped Arsenal regain control after tough starts to both halves.

Lively, even if it didn't lead to much. Pushed Sporting's biggest threat back, won fouls and drove into dangerous areas. Hit the bar from a corner.

Roamed from the left to find pockets of space but couldn't make a positive impact.

Struggled to get involved against his former club, the sort of performance we've seen before this season.

His introduction didn't seem to improve Arsenal's play but he took the goal brilliantly. Perfect touch, calm finish. Hopefully a big moment.

Managed to get on the ball a little but was marked tightly. No magic spark this time around.

Provided the moment that broke the game open with his driving run and clipped pass inside for Havertz.
